If your devices are playing hard to get with our Brillband Wi-Fi, a few tweaks can make all the difference.
Hive Hub
Reliable Wi-Fi speeds are essential in any home, and in some cases a slowdown can occur when a Hive Hub is connected to the network. This happens because Wi-Fi devices share available airtime, meaning they take turns communicating. The Hive Hub may operate at a lower wireless speed, which can reduce the overall bandwidth available through the eero system and impact performance across other connected devices. As a result, it can use more airtime than other devices, affecting overall efficiency across the network.
If you have a Hive Hub and believe your speeds are being restricted as a result, the simplest solution is to contact Hive directly. Their support team can investigate further and work towards a resolution.
Sky Q
1. Disable Eco Mode
Sky Q’s eco settings can put your box into a light sleep, sometimes too light. Turn it off for a rock-solid connection:
Press Home on your Sky Q remote
Go to Settings → Preferences
Set Standby mode to None
2. Force 5 GHz Only
Sky Q defaults to 2.4 GHz, which can be busy and slow. Lock it onto 5 GHz for higher throughput:
Press Home on your Sky Q remote
Go to Settings (don’t press OK)
Enter 001 on the remote to open the Engineer menu
Select Networks → 2.4 GHz Wireless → Off
Press Back or Home to exit
3. Try a Wired Connection
For the ultimate reliability, especially if you’ve got multiple Sky Q minis, plug an Ethernet cable straight from your eero into your Sky Q box. No more buffering, no more drop-outs.
Bluetooth Devices
Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi both operate on the same wireless frequency band, which means they share the same “airspace.” When multiple devices (like wireless headphones, keyboards, smart home devices, and routers) are using 2.4 GHz at the same time, signals can overlap and cause interference. This may result in slower speeds, higher latency, or occasional connection drops.
How to troubleshoot in the eero app 📱-
Open the eero app and go to Insights
Select the device you’re having issues with
Check which band it’s using (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or 6 GHz)
Restart your network from Settings → Network settings → Restart network if devices seem stuck on 2.4 GHz
Move devices closer to an eero unit to improve connection quality
Just to note: eero uses band steering to automatically guide devices to the best available WiFi band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) to help improve speed and reduce interference where possible. So this interference is much less noticeable when using the eero.
