We'll cut to the chase
900Mbps over WiFi won't be possible all of the time.
There are many different environmental factors that can affect the signal between the router and your devices.
For a faster and stronger connection, connect your device directly to the router using an appropriate ethernet cable.

Â
What could be affecting it?
Distance |
You'll get faster speeds if you're closer to the router. Rooms that are further away from the router often have the patchiest signal. |
Walls |
WiFi can go through walls but it will always be impacted to some extent. Multiple walls will result in more signal loss. |
Number of devices using the internet |
The speeds you experience can slow down as more people in your home use the internet since the bandwidth is shared. |
Your device |
Older devices will have slower maximum WiFi speeds |
Â
A realistic expectation
If your device is close to the router and its capable of connecting to the 5Ghz WiFi band, you can receive speeds up to 900Mbps but this is dependent on the factors outlined above.
If you're further away from the router, you'll most likely connect to the 2.4Ghz WiFi band which will reach further but will only be able to reach maximum speeds of between 100Mbps to 200Mbps.Â
Note: Some devices will connect to the slower 2.4Ghz channel by default.
